WHAT? Anagram is a local fashion brand founded in 2010 that offers modern, chic womenswear made for mixing and matching.
WHO? Hong Kong–born Lois Tien is Anagram’s brand manager. Tien is the daughter of G2000 founder Michael Tien, and has loved fashion from a young age. “My personal style is ever-changing, but being comfortable is the most important thing to me,” she says. Before returning to Hong Kong in 2013 and joining the family business, she studied at Brown University and worked at J.Crew in New York.
WHAT TO EXPECT The brand’s aesthetic is refined and sophisticated and focuses on pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways. Anagram is not trend-focused and instead features pieces made with thoughtful design and functionality as well as quality fabrics. “Anagram is a relatively young brand so in a way we are constantly evolving and adapting. We started off with a minimalistic aesthetic, simple silhouettes and neutral palettes,” Tien explains. “Now, we are more experimental and fun, and there is an emphasis on the quality of fabrics that we use.” Seventy per cent of fabrics and yarns are sourced from Europe, and the clothing is easy to wear, with outfits that can be worn from day into night.
WHAT’S NEW? “The brand’s current spring-summer collection is inspired by romantic holidays and the ease of summertime styles,” Tien says, adding that it was particularly inspired by the effortless way Italian women dress. Key features include silk dresses, pleated shirts, twill shorts and draped pants. “This season we showcase a cohesive mix of bold prints, lightweight textures, delicate laces and dressier pieces that are perfect for summer evening parties.”
